Welcome to Canyon-Lister Elementary School!
We are excited to begin the new school year and have many great ideas for the year ahead. Our dynamic and caring staff members are working hard to provide a high quality educational program for your children- one that is full of inquiry, exploration, engaging activities, focus, rigor, and an understanding of both local and global issues.
We are very proud to be the only UNESCO member school in British Columbia, and take seriously our role in making the world a better place. UNESCO schools must demonstrate a commitment to working towards positive change in the world, generally by taking action to support the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. These goals are illustrated at the following link:

About the Sustainable Development Goals

And as our School District 8 mission states, we continue to focus on excellence for all learners in a nurturing environment.
I care deeply about ensuring that all students have access to a high quality education that will allow them to reach their individual potential and contribute positively to the world around them. It is important for students to learn about themselves, their community, and other cultures they share their community and the world with. This broadens perspectives, builds relationships, and leads to meaningful engagement in issues that affect all of us. This is why the UNESCO goals of environmental, peace, and intercultural education are so important to us at Canyon-Lister Elementary.
Join us as we explore the forest; build our garden; work together to support UNESCO goals; wonder about the many things around us; and work hard to build strong academic and social skills. We welcome our parents into our school- please come by to visit, join in with an activity, join the school Parent Advisory Council (PAC) or volunteer. We would love to see you here.
