Exploring the Life Cycle of Everyday Items: Ms. Adams' Class Paper Recycling Project

Over the past few weeks, Ms. Adams' class has been diving into the fascinating life cycle of everyday items like jeans, pencils, and glass bottles. The students researched and learned about the various processes involved in creating and recycling these items.

This week, students had the chance to participate in the life cycle themselves by recycling paper. Students started by using paper from their recycling bin, ripping them into small pieces. These pieces were then blended with water and a touch of corn starch to create a pulp. The pulp was poured into a container that filtered out the water while forming the paper into a rectangular shape. Sponges were used to press out the excess water, and finally, the paper was rolled with a rolling pin to make it thinner and remove any remaining water.

This hands-on activity not only reinforced their understanding of recycling but also gave them a sense of accomplishment as they created new paper from old. It was a fun and educational experience that highlighted the importance of recycling and sustainability.
