Exploring Our History at the Museum

Ms. Adams’ Grade 2/3 class recently enjoyed a visit to the museum, where students explored local history and learned more about the land and community we call home.

As part of the Shaping the Land program, students learned the Yaqan Nukiy story of how the Kootenay River came to be and explored the important role the river has played throughout history. They also learned about the impact that the construction of the dam had on our local community and landscape.

Students had the opportunity to tour the museum exhibits, discovering artifacts and stories from the past. A special highlight of the day was stepping back in time as they visited the one-room schoolhouse, where they experienced what school life was like for students many years ago.

It was a wonderful day of learning, exploration, and connecting with the rich history of our region.
