House Team Sorting Ceremony

On Monday, September 9th 2025, our Canyon-Lister Elementary community gathered for the first assembly of the school year — the much-anticipated House Team Sorting! New students and staff were welcomed into our school spirit by discovering which of the four Ktunaxa animal teams they would join.  With the help of the famous “picking poncho,” Ms. King revealed each person’s new team:

• Qukin – Raven
• Kupi – Owl
• Nipku – Bear
• Skinquc – Coyote

House teams are a fun way for students and staff across grades to connect, celebrate, and cheer each other on. Members can earn points for their team by showing spirit on house days and by receiving UNESCO Good Deed cards for positive actions.

We can’t wait to see which team will rise to the top this year — but no matter the outcome, the energy, teamwork, and kindness will make everyone a winner!
