There is nothing quite like seeing students take the lead in creating their own fun at recess. This week, our playground has been full of laughter and teamwork as students organized a giant game of Beaver Sam on the basketball court.

All week long, groups of students have been gathering to play together, chanting, “Beaver Sam, Beaver Sam, may we cross your Beaver Dam?” and cheering one another on. At times, as many as 30 students have joined in, showing incredible cooperation, creativity, and school spirit.

It has been wonderful to watch students include one another, make their own rules, and enjoy such a classic, collaborative game. Moments like these remind us how powerful play can be in building friendships and a positive school community.
