Ms. Adams and Mr. Ewashen's class has partnered with the Creston Valley Rod and Gun Club (CVRG) on a year-long project to repopulate the salmon population in Kootenay Lake. This fall, students took a field trip to Summit Creek Park to release salmon eggs. They are also collaborating with Erickson Elementary School to raise salmon eyed eggs in a fish tank over the winter months, with plans to release the salmon fry into the creek in the spring. Last week, CVRG members visited the students to teach them about the life cycle, anatomy, and habitat of Kokanee salmon, providing valuable insights into the importance of their conservation efforts.
