Toe-Tapping Tunes at CLES
On November 7, our students were treated to a lively and unforgettable performance by the fiddling duo Gordon Stobbe and JJ Guy. Their energy, talent, and passion for music filled our gym with joy. The students were entertained from the first note to the final bow.
Gordon Stobbe, a celebrated Master Fiddler and a Member of the Order of Canada, brings decades of experience in performing, composing, and teaching traditional music. JJ Guy, an award‑winning fiddler from Saskatchewan, has also earned a place in the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame. Together, they performed a mix of Métis fiddle music, sharing rich cultural traditions and lively tunes that captivated our students.
During the visit, Gordon and JJ told stories, shared tunes, and even engaged a few students, making the performance warm, welcoming, and interactive. Their music not only entertained but also introduced students to the vibrant heritage of Métis fiddle traditions in a fun and accessible way.
We extend a huge thank‑you to Gordon Stobbe and JJ Guy for visiting our school and bringing such wonderful music to our students. Their performance created a memorable afternoon and inspired many students to appreciate traditional Canadian fiddle music.
