As we approach the SD8 Powwow on May 19, 2023, Indigenous students have been working hard on their regalia at school. They will also have the opportunity to participate in dance and drumming lessons on Wednesdays for five weeks: Fancy Shawl and Grass Dance style lessons are delivered by two talented Ktunaxa dancers, Cherie Luke and Jared Basil, and drumming under the guidance of Ktunaxa band member Rudy Luke Jr.

Canyon-Lister students will be learning together with other students in Creston, and we are very grateful for this opportunity for our children to build cultural knowledge within in our community.
