Spaghetti for Sea Protection

Each class at Canyon-Lister Elementary works on a UNESCO project, selecting as a class an issue that they would like to learn more about, and then they take action to make a positive change.

This month Ms. Ziefflie's Grade 1-2 class has been learning about the importance of water for all living things. They have collaborated with our Be the Change club to raise money for the Emerald Sea Protection Society.

The Emerald Sea Protection Society searches for and removes "ghost nets", which are abandoned fishing nets that contribute towards pollution and harm sea life.

Hotdog Fundraiser, Family Dance

Our Be the Change group has been conducting hot dog sales in February to raise money to support people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Just under $1000 was raised with the first sale, with more raised at the end of the month. Hot dogs were purchased via donation.

Also in February, our PAC organized the first CLES Family Dance in the gym on Friday, 24th February from 6-8pm. Students helped their parents decorate, and families came together to enjoy a social event together. Thanks to our amazing PAC for organizing this!
