Holiday Concert

 

Canyon-Lister students and staff welcomed friends and family to our annual Holiday concert last night.  The students had been practicing hard and were excited to showcase their performances to their families.

Playground Grand Opening

On Thursday November 16th 2023, we hosted the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Canyon-Lister Elementary School Playground. 

We acknowledge, respect and honour the First Nations in whose traditional territories the Kootenay Lake School District operates and all Aboriginal people residing within the boundaries of School District No. 8.

We welcomed a number of special guests to the ceremony, including:

  • Staff, students and parents

  • Superintendent Smillie

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Thank you to our guests who came to the Remembrance Day assembly today: Ktunaxa Elder and war veteran Robin Louie spoke of his experiences in the Marines, local musician Poul Christensen performed The Last Post/Rouse on the bugle and Army Cadets (and former CLES students) Sgt Gatto-Beebe and Sgt Ingram were colour-bearers.  Several of our current CLES students spoke about the meaning of Remembrance and recited poems.

Successful Food Drive

We Scare Hunger Food Drive

The Be the Change group collected 134 food items for the Creston Valley Gleaners Food Bank. Thank you to all who sent in non-perishable food items!

Library Learning Commons

In the heart of Canyon-Lister Elementary School, there is a space that holds the magic of storytelling and the potential for young minds to grow and thrive. That space is our school library.
